Etsy.
Courses.
Freelancing.
And every one of them sounds like it could work.
Why This Becomes a Problem
At first, it feels exciting.
You start thinking:
“Maybe this is the one.”
Or…
“What if that’s better?”
So, you start looking into each one.
You watch a few videos on affiliate marketing.
Then you switch to KDP.
Then someone mentions YouTube… and now you’re looking into that too.
Before long, you’re not building anything.
You’re comparing everything.
The Hidden Cost of Too Many Options
Here’s what most people don’t realize:
Every new option you consider is another decision you have to make.
And decisions take energy.
So instead of moving forward, you get stuck in a loop:
- Research
- Compare
- Second guess
- Repeat
It feels like progress…
But nothing is actually being built.
Why This Hits Harder Over 55
When you’re starting later in life, you tend to be more careful.
You don’t want to waste time.
You don’t want to make the wrong move.
So naturally, you try to make the best decision.
But that’s exactly what slows everything down.
Because the “best” option isn’t obvious at the beginning.
What Actually Moves You Forward
This is what I’ve learned:
Progress doesn’t come from choosing the perfect model.
It comes from choosing one simple path and giving it a real chance.
Not forever.
Just long enough to:
- Understand how it works
- Take consistent action
- See what happens
A Simpler Way to Think About It
Instead of asking:
“What’s the best way to make money online?”
Ask:
“What’s one simple way I can start today?”
That question changes everything.
Because now you’re not trying to solve everything at once.
You’re just taking a step.
What I’m Doing
Right now, I’m focusing on a couple of simple paths:
- Creating content
- Publishing (like KDP and niche sites)
Not because they’re “perfect”…
But because they’re simple enough to stick with
And that’s what matters.
Final Thought
Too many options don’t give you freedom.
They give you hesitation.
If you’re feeling stuck right now, it might not be because you don’t know enough.
It might be because you’re trying to choose from too much.
Simplify that…
