Today I want to talk about the 7 steps to creating and packaging paid digital products.
Do you know where people have the highest success rate the fastest online? It’s in the digital product launching space.
More people succeed faster here than anywhere else online…
Probably because it’s a simple system that is time tested and proven to work over and over again.
And what is that system?
It’s as simple as…
Create, Package and Release
So let me break that down for you a little bit.
Create
First you are going to create a digital product in your niche. This can be a simple pdf special report or a video course.
That video course doesn’t need to be insanely in depth.
It can be you narrating through a mind map that you created.
The important thing is that this digital product solves a problem for people that they need solved.
Package
Then you package that course up in the form of an automated website.
What do I mean by that?
I mean you need a sales page to sell your product, a download page to deliver your product, and a way to automate the whole thing.
Not nearly as hard as it sounds.
There are plenty of free services out there that can help you accomplish this “automating the whole thing” I am speaking of.
Release
Then you need to release the product.
What does that mean and how do you do it?
Well, you need to send targeted traffic to your sales page. By targeted traffic I mean people who care about the subject of your product.
There are many, many ways to accomplish this, but one very effective one is by sending affiliate or influencer traffic to your sales page.
Now let’s get into the 7 Steps to creating and packaging paid Products…
Step 1:
Go to niche related forums, Facebook groups, and blogs (and focus on the comment sections of the articles).
See what people are talking about in your niche.
What kinds of questions are they asking?
What kinds of problems are they having?
Write these down.
Use this information and come up with 10 ideas for products
Step 2:
Go to marketplaces like WarriorPlus, JVZoo, and Clickbank and look for similar products to your ideas.
How are they selling? You are looking for proof that this idea will sell.
If it has worked before it can work again. This is risk management.
You don’t want to spend time creating something that will not sell, so we do our research first and make sure there is a market for it, and it has seen success before.
Step 3:
Now pick your best idea that shows the most promise and map out a product around that idea.
You need to come up with a name for this product. Make it sound cool.
This product can be a written special report in the form of a PDF file or it can be a simple video presentation.
Either way it needs a few things:
- An Introduction – Introduce yourself and tell a little about you
- An Overview – Speak about the course and what you are going to be going over
- The Main Training (this can be modules or steps) – This is where you put that step-by-step actionable content
- A Wrapping Up Section – This is where you conclude the course and summarize it.
Also be sure to give them a way to contact you in case they have any questions.
- A Recommended Resources Section
This is where you can put links to other resources that might help them.
It’s an excellent place to pitch your blog, other courses, or your social media profiles.
Step 4:
Now that we have out actual course done, we need to package it.
The first part of that is creating a cover.
If you don’t know how to create a cover for your product, it’s not a bad idea to go over to Fiverr and just have someone do it for you.
Make sure it looks cool.
Step 5:
Okay, so now we have a product and a cover.
The next part of packaging is creating a download page.
This is the page where people are going to be sent when they buy your product.
Make sure the download page has the following:
- A “Thanks for investing in this product” Headline
- An Introduction Video or message telling them thank you and any instructions about navigating the download page.
- Your Main training (in the form of videos or PDF download)
- A Bonus Section – where you can give them a couple of extra pieces of content
- A Recommended Resources section – where you can put links to other resources, again a great place to pitch your other paid products, affiliate products, blog posts, and social media profiles.
Step 6:
Once you have that download page done, we need to create a sales page.
The easiest way to do that when you are not a professional copywriter and don’t have money to hire one is to do this:
Go find 5 sales pages that resonate with you.
These can be from things that you have purchased recently, or things that are doing very well right now and you resonate with.
Model your sales page after the elements in these sales pages.
There are no hard and fast rules to writing good sales copy or creating good sales pages.
The only rule is a question.
That question is simple:
Is it effective?
So, model your sales page after successful pages that have gone before you. And you will put yourself in a great place to succeed.
Step 7:
Get your product listed on a platform that will automate the sales process for you.
You can do that with Gumroad, WarriorPlus, JVZoo, ClickBank, or countless others that are out there.
These platforms will make it easy to add a buy button to your sales page and also put you in a network where potential affiliates will see your offer to promote it.
Releasing Your Digital Product
The way you release this thing will be a big factor in determining how much money you are going to make.
And doing a few digital product launches will boost your authority and build your buyers email list faster than almost anything.
So, let’s talk to about “releasing” the digital product once it’s been created.
You know it’s not enough to create a cool product and put up a sales page with a buy button. We need to go out there and get those customers.
One of the fastest most effective ways to do that is to find people who already have a following in your niche. These are influencers.
Generally, they have big email lists of people who listen to what they have to say.
It’s exactly what you are trying to build.
So, reach out to these influencers and offer them an affiliate commission if they would promote your product.
How much?
I would say no less than 50% all the way to 100%. 75% is usually a happy compromise.
The emails are the number 1 priority here. Profit is secondary with a product launch.
Both are important but once you have acquired the emails you can send that email traffic to future offers.
As you can see, affiliate traffic can be expensive, but it is very effective.
So, how do you find them?
Many people who launch digital products run affiliate contests.
Check those contests on WarriorPlus and JVZoo.
Reach out to those contest leaderboard rankers. Friend request them on Facebook and work on building a relationship with them before you launch a product.
Also be sure to join all the JV launch groups on Facebook.
These groups don’t get a lot of engagement. They are mostly people posting their launch details. Think of them like classified ads.
Be sure to post about your launch in these groups.
Be sure to list your launch on Muncheye, it’s a central hub for affiliates (in the digital marketing space).
Put together a list of target affiliates for your launch. (200 of these targeted affiliates is not out of the question).
The more you reach out to the more success you will have
Affiliate recruitment gets easier the more you do product launching and the more success you have. People who sell, respect other people who know how to sell.
The subject of affiliate recruitment is a deep one and is beyond the scope of this article. But what I will say is that it is in your best interest to learn it.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been made in just a few short days on a good digital product launch.
I know this has been a lot of information but it is extremely valuable and when applied and practiced can make you a lot of money.
Now before you go, I want to show you an invaluable resource that will really help you if you are interested in creating your own digital products. It includes 20 Over-the-Shoulder training videos going over how to create your content, prepare your content for sale, and delivering your content after the sale.
